Free Checklist · 16 Pages · PDF
Microsoft publishes a 44-point design checklist for AI landing zones. It's organized by topic, not by when a decision becomes expensive to reverse. This is the same checklist in plain language, sorted so you decide the things that force a rebuild first.
The recommendations are Microsoft's; the order, the evidence prompts and the worksheets are ours. The upstream project is in preview and has no tagged releases, so we say so plainly and tell you to pin what you deploy. See how we verify what we publish.
A region check for Canadian teams. As of October 9, 2026, no Canadian region is on the project's list of regions that support a full deployment. The PDF shows the list and what to do about it. Re-read the project README before you decide.
Prefer to read first? The checks themselves are free on the web, no email needed: read the web version.
Tell us a little about your role and the download unlocks on this page. No confirmation link to chase.
What's inside
Microsoft's AI Landing Zones design checklist, restated and tagged with its original IDs so you can cross-reference the source.
Decide first, build in before the first agent ships, then what a second team or an auditor will test. The order is ours; the recommendations are Microsoft's.
Each check names the evidence that proves it, so “we think so” scores as partly, not yes.
The regions the project lists for a full deployment, and a worksheet for your own residency question.
The choices the checklist leaves to you, including the exact project version you deployed, because it has no tagged releases.
What to find out before you build, about the central services a platform landing zone may already provide.
Landing zone sorted, agents next?
Our companion checklist covers what runs on the landing zone: evaluation gates, identity per agent, spend against outcomes and human approval.
